Woonsocket  is one of the most heavily French-Canadian cities in New England. Historically, the city has been called, “La ville la plus française aux États-Unis” (The most French city in America). In the spirit of the French, a joie de vivre pervades the Woonsocket area with its many attractions and pastimes.

The North End of Woonsocket has a great number of historic homes that are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Museum of Work and Culture while specific to this area of Rhode Island, tells a much more universal tale of working together to build the American Dream. One great way to appreciate the past while enjoying current entertainment is Woonsocket’s Stadium Theatre. Built in the 1920’s, the Stadium Theater possesses the grandeur of an antique movie house while providing world-class performances and regional acts. One of the town’s annual highlights is October’s Autumnfest which provides seasonal entertainment appropriate for all ages, including rides, consumer showcases, a beer garden, food, art, and more.

Woonsocket is made up of the villages of Fairmount, Globe, Hamlet, and Social.
